Located down a long (100 metres), dark and narrow alley, carrying luggage in/out isn’t easy but the neighbours are friendly and it does have loads of local character.  It’s in a terrific spot, close to everything and it can be a little noisy but it is a residential area in a big city so it wasn’t so bad for us. Except for the rooster!

Sometimes you research, read reviews and book accommodation and still find that it’s not exactly what you thought it would be. And other times you’re blown away and can’t believe your luck. Our stay at Azumi Villas was the later. We stayed for a considerable time and there was not one single negative about Azumi. In fact, the property and the staff exceeded our expectations on all occasions.

We had a function in Newcastle recently so given the location of The Grand Hotel and the many positive reviews online, it was an easy choice.  We weren’t disappointed.  There are many different room categories and the level of amenities relates to the price (as you would expect) with some rooms larger, sharing facilities, etc.

A pleasant stopover in a lovely town. Check in was smooth, staff here are friendly and happy to share recommendations for wineries and restaurants. Rooms are spacious and well maintained with a large bathroom and a well provisioned kitchenette (quality coffee and plunger!).

A terrific little place! Warm welcome, clean and modern furnishings with a well stocked little kitchenette. Firm bed, crisp sheets and soft pillows, fluffy towels and boutique toiletries are not normally something I would associate with a motor lodge so lots of bonus points here. It’s a long walk to shops or restaurants but it is quiet and taxis are easy to get if you choose to have a few drinks.

Exactly as stated – trendy, waterfront apartment. Compact, modern with a nice little sitting area and well located, overlooking the Viaduct so lovely views and close to everything. Great for us as we were in town to socialise but the noise from revellers at night could be a little disturbing for some. It had everything we needed – iron, hair dryer, glasses, coffee/tea.

After deciding to do a stopover in Beijing, we specifically looked for accommodation with some character and local flavour.  Double Happiness didn’t disappoint.  When we arrived, our room category was overbooked but the staff went out of their way to sort the problem and as they were open and honest with us, we were more than happy to assist.

Staff are by far the best thing about the Hilton Chongqing. It’s in a strange location but not at all difficult as the metro is only a 5 minute walk. Certainly one of their older properties and even though it was obviously well built in its day, it is starting to show signs of wear.

This was my first time to Guangzhou but my husbands 5th and his 3rd time at The Leeden Hotel. He originally chose this hotel based on its affiliation with the International Import Export Fair and availability of shuttle buses. Now being familiar with the city’s transport network, the shuttle buses are no longer a high priority but The Leeden is still his preferred choice.

Great location, terrible service

Just on the fringe of the restaurant and shopping district, and at the base of the Menara Tower, we chose the Oasia Suites based on location and were not disappointed in this respect.  The property was clean and quiet, our two bedroom apartment was well laid out and nicely decorated, beds were comfortable but unfortunately that where the positives ended.
