Great location, terrible service

Just on the fringe of the restaurant and shopping district, and at the base of the Menara Tower, we chose the Oasia Suites based on location and were not disappointed in this respect.  The property was clean and quiet, our two bedroom apartment was well laid out and nicely decorated, beds were comfortable but unfortunately that where the positives ended.

There was no information about the facilities anywhere in the room.  This did cause a few issues, for instance, we assumed there was a problem with hot water in the shower until we later worked out that it had to be switched on.  There was no safe in our rooms at all – we were sure it would be there somewhere so without an info folder to refer to, we searched a few times but nothing at all.  Despite a full kitchen, there was no bottled water so we assumed the tap water was safe to boil and drink.  When we asked front desk staff if that was the case, he just smiled and responded “no”.  We had to ask them to send water up to the room.  Staff were lacking in warmth at every encounter.

There was one other thing – the shower in the main bathroom has floor to ceiling glass with a view of the Menara tower.  A very impressive scene when showering at night and there is a blind but even when drawn, I could still see out so I’m really not sure what others could see looking in!  Whether that’s a positive or a negative would depend on the individual guest.

I wouldn’t go as far as recommending against a stay at Oasia.  At the right price, it might suit some people but I’ve have better in KL.
