We chose The Paragon based on location and the fact that it has a pool. Although the pool was nice enough, we didn’t use it in the end but with sights, restaurants, bars and shopping nearby, the location is definitely a winner.

We were given a room on the top floor with terrific views across the city. It was a little dated but large, clean and functional with comfortable beds. The bathroom had the common problem of water from the shower all over the floor but other than that, it was large and clean. The only real problem with the room was the noise. We didn’t seem to get anything from the hallway or other rooms but I can only guess there is a kitchen in the adjoining property on the other side of the wall. Not only could we hear voices all day (not a huge problem), we also had dishes etc banging around at 6am in the morning (a little harder to ignore). Also, there is currently a building site opposite and they work all day and night but that’s almost to be expected in the city.

Breakfast was mostly fine in fact, it was better than I expected in this price range however, the coffee was absolutely dreadful. The worst I’ve had in 4 months traveling around Asia! Staff are attentive and helpful. If the pricing is consistent next time, I would certainly give it a second opportunity.
