Located on a small alley with an unassuming front, it would be easy to miss this place. From the front door it appears quite dark but if you do venture in, head out the back to the courtyard.

This is a lovely little place in a pretty courtyard tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Ancient Town. On the morning we were there, there was a light cloud cover so the open roof allowed a gentle breeze and dappled sunshine in the garden.

Last week we gave our love of Vietnamese food a break and decided on Japanese at Tadioto. The original is an institution in the Hanoi dining scene but they only recently branched out and we’re glad they chose Hoi An.

Last night’s dinner at Restaurant 328 was a terrific surprise. We were warmly welcomed, quickly made comfortable and drinks were prompt. From the road, it looks like many other restaurants on Cua Dai Street but when the food arrived it was clear that they put as much care into their cooking as their hospitality.

What a lovely surprise! We wandered past Nhan’s Kitchen on one of our morning walks and found them setting up for their first day of trade after the Tet celebrations. At first glance, it looks like a little like a neighbourhood trattoria specialising in pizza/pasta/western food but after hearing about the Vietnamese specials we decided to return that night for dinner.

This will probably be one of my shorter reviews because it doesn’t take too many words to explain ‘outstanding’. The food is amazing. We’ve tried so many dishes across numerous visits and we have yet to come across one that is not delicious.

We have so many favourite restaurants and bars on Koh Samui that it’s easy to fill our days and nights but it’s also fun to check out new options which is why we stopped at Beach in Bangrak. So glad we did!
