I know it was only 2 months since my last review of Reggae Fisherman Bar (now on the road between Choeng Mon & Chaweng) but our latest visit provided exciting news – for me anyway… I now know how to make my favourite Tod Mun Goong (shrimp cakes) and they’re so simple!! Ruay and Chai are such friendly and welcoming hosts but I didn’t realise that Ruay is happy to share her talent.

As a meeting place for journalists and travellers for many years, the Foreign Correspondents’ Club is one of the older establishments in Phnom Penh. The building occupies a prime waterfront position on Sisowath Quay, with a café on the street level and a number of bars, restaurants and accommodation over the floors above.

We stumbled on this one as it was just up from our hotel (corner of Street 256 & Street 19). Even though this neighbourhood is fast becoming more upmarket, Villa Oeno stood out due to the modern exterior so we decided to pop in for a refreshing drink at the end of a hot day of sightseeing.

Six Senses has been our ‘go-to’ for celebrations since 2007 when we celebrated my **th birthday with family and friends who had travelled from Australia. On that occasion, staff went above and beyond our expectations, even coming up with special touches we didn’t ask for. Everyone who attended agreed it was an evening to remember.

We were looking for a Sunday brunch destination and initially considering a visit to Nikki Beach but after a discussion with the owner of our accommodation, we decided that Beach Republic might be more appropriate. On arrival we were greeted like old friends and made to feel welcome instantly.

Housed in an old workshop with buckets of character, the building that is home to Parry Street Garage is divided into two spaces and given it’s groovy, industrial styling it’s a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Although it’s not necessarily romantic, date-night territory (for me) it is terrific for groups and also family friendly.

Classy, elegant and grown up. They do take their wine seriously and the staff certainly know their topic but the atmosphere is relaxed and not at all stuffy.

I’ve dined at The Grand on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is more wintery being an inside/dark-ish vibe but during those colder months, it’s perfect for those who want good food without the fuss.

Perfect place for afternoon drinks in the winter sunshine! Terrific food, lots of options for small things or something more substantial but I’ve also popped in a few times now just for drinks. Definitely worth a stop.
