The Larder – Koh Samui, Thailand
I prefer to eat Thai food while staying on Samui but The Larder is one of the few that I break my rules for. Located at the very north of Chaweng on the main road towards Choeng Mon (parking isn’t a problem), the space feels comfortable and relaxed. The menu style is modern/bistro, not pretentious but with a clever use of quality ingredients and a sense of humour.
Presentation is superb. Serving sizes can occasionally be smaller with this style of food but that’s not the case here – we didn’t need dessert! Fantastically inventive cocktails (as well as the classics I suspect) and a carefully selected wine list covering many continents. Service is smooth with happy and attentive staff. Certainly not the cheapest meal on the island but one of the nicest. Definitely value for money.
