Hunter Valley Helicopters – Cessnock, NSW, Australia
Last week I was whisked away for lunch in the Hunter Valley to celebrate a milestone birthday. When we turned into Cessnock Airport, I was a tad concerned but it turned out I was to have my first helicopter flight (not my initial fear of a skydive!). After a little safety briefing, our pilot, Oliver, took photos and we were quickly on our way.
I was surprised how smooth it was but apparently that was considered a bumpy day. Every second was breathtaking. We headed north over Bimbadgen and The Vintage before turning west and following the range south down to Mount View and looping back to the north. I thought it was only my imagination that we seemed to be slowly dropping in altitude but when I worked up the courage to ask, Oliver confirmed that we were indeed landing – at Hunter’s Quarter Restaurant (Cockfighter’s Ghost Vineyard). What a treat! It was fabulous and I’ll be sure to do a separate review for them. Oliver is friendly, knowledgeable and keen to ensure we saw the things that were important to us. Thanks for your contribution to my very special day. I would definitely recommend this indulgence to anyone – even nervous flyers!
