Cocktail King Samui – Choeng Mon, Koh Samui, Thailand

I’m uncomfortable categorizing Cocktail King as a bar because it never feels like that for us – the relaxed and friendly atmosphere make it more of a hangout that serves alcohol. Meena and Rakk are wonderful hosts, always smiling and ready with a recommendation for drinks or suggestions for tours, etc but only when requested.

There’s no ‘hard sell’ here. The clientele is a mixed group ranging including expats, tourists, couples, families and even though it’s not a dance club, there are always many younger people enjoying the space. The open room is beautifully decorated and has a mixture of seating options (lounges, benches, tables) with plenty of fans to supplement the ocean breeze. Oh, and of course the cocktails are superb! Located in the centre of Choeng Mon, it’s a great place to sit and watch the evening unfold. We’ve been coming for years now and we will always return.

Love it! Relaxed space, comfortable atmosphere, central location – it’s always our first stop when we arrive. Meena & Rakk are wonderful hosts and make everyone feel welcome regardless of age or nationality. They are friendly, informative and lots of fun, they even help us with our very poor Thai language skills! The cocktails are terrific and great value for money. Because Meena & Rakk are so helpful and trustworthy, we also hire our bikes from them and we have never had a problem.
