Taman Spa Resort – Phitsanulok, Thailand
We found Taman difficult to find but that’s because the signage is in Thai and I’m certainly not complaining about that. If you’re arriving by car, turn into the driveway on the south side right next to the LPG station. Located about 30 minutes out of town, it’s obviously not a wise choice without transport but it does seem to be aimed more at Thai visitors (there is a university across the road).
It’s quiet – we only saw one other guest during our stay. The gardens are extensive and peaceful with a number of sitting areas amongst the greenery. Many of the plants have signage attached with details of the plant – the gardener obviously loves his work. The pool area is lovely and while there is the structure of a pool bar, it doesn’t look like it’s been used for quite some time.
Our room was large and clean with a private balcony. Beds are comfortable and the air conditioning worked well but the hot water didn’t work at all. It was late by the time we found this out so not worth bothering the staff but it would have been nice to have a hot shower. Breakfast was a big surprise – standard choices but great food, terrific coffee and the young lady serving was delightful, in fact the staff we came across were very friendly.
If I’m looking for a relaxing stay in a resort, I wouldn’t choose a property based in a semi-industrial area on the outskirts of town but that’s personal preference. Taman is definitely a good choice for a stopover.
