Bep Me In – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Being tucked away in an alley, it’s not a place you would ‘stumble across’ but there is well lit signage on the street so it’s certainly not difficult to find. It’s a small space with cute and quirky interior design making it feel like you’re sitting in an old fashioned market type restaurant. Bench seating is comfortable, the main room is air conditioned and spotlessly clean. Staff are super friendly and helpful with suggestions if required. We opted for the zucchini flowers stuffed with basa fish (delicate and tasty), pork in pepper and caramel (delicious!) and Vietnamese pizza. The pizza was the standout for me – a large prawn cracker type base with a soft rice paper wrapper to cover and toppings (pork, bean sprouts, egg, etc) over that. The texture and flavours were well chosen and beautifully balanced. We also had crunchy spring rolls which were pleasant but not as impressive as the other dishes. Refreshments include beer and wine by the glass. Prices are very realistic, in fact our total came to only 395,000. I would go again.
