The Grand Hotel – Newcastle, NSW, Australia

We had a function in Newcastle recently so given the location of The Grand Hotel and the many positive reviews online, it was an easy choice.  We weren’t disappointed.  There are many different room categories and the level of amenities relates to the price (as you would expect) with some rooms larger, sharing facilities, etc.

Ours was on the second floor, right at the top of the stairs and although it didn’t occur to me at the time, I suppose the location could have made it noisy with patrons coming and going but we didn’t hear a thing – inside or out.  Just in case you’re wondering, we weren’t late to bed (our function started at lunch) AND it was a Saturday. 

Being an older building, The Grand has oodles of character but there’s nothing lacking when it comes to comfort with all the mod cons required for a very relaxing night.  Rooms are fresh and modern, beds and pillows are comfortable, lots of towels and blankets available if required.

The bar is cosy and friendly (apparently the bar snacks are terrific on Friday evening!).  The restaurant offers a wide variety of tasty dishes selected from a list of global favourites and with substantial servings, it would be the perfect local for anyone.

But back to the accommodation… value for money is exceptional and I will definitely take advantage of it again.
