Beach – Bangrak, Koh Samui, Thailand

We have so many favourite restaurants and bars on Koh Samui that it’s easy to fill our days and nights but it’s also fun to check out new options which is why we stopped at Beach in Bangrak. So glad we did! It’s only small (in a nice way) and easy to miss from the street (just a few hundred metres east of where the Bond Kai Road meets the main beach road) but once you venture in, it’s a little gem. We visited early evening and it was a very comfortable temperature but being right on the sand, I expect there would be a breeze most of the afternoon and with stunning views across the bay, it’s a top spot to watch the sunset. All the standard beers and cocktails are available and, as a wine drinker, I was thrilled to find the quality of the house wine is terrific (the white is Australian I believe). Prices are very reasonable but happy hour (or three!)) is always a pleasant bonus! We had dinner plans so we only popped in for a drink (actually stayed for two!) but the free snacks that came out were sensational. On this occasion, there were two – a bite sized, crispy spring roll with a dash of sauce (creatively served cut side down in a shot glass) and a substantial piece of fresh rice paper roll served on a spoon with a well-balanced little dressing (honey-based, I think?). Compliments to the chef. All up it was a very pleasant sunset stop. The vibe was relaxed, the crowd were happy and I’ve heard great things about the music so we will definitely be returning.
